About the Project
Part of an ongoing series on immigration, this conceptual passport reimagines a government-issued document as a canvas for personal and cultural reflection. Designed at the actual size of a Korean passport, it incorporates mirrored Seoul cityscapes, layered typography, and traditional Korean patterns sourced from 전통문화포털 (Korean Traditional Culture Portal, kculture.or.kr).
The interior pages feature found texts from immigration research, including U.S. visa classifications and the history of Korean immigration to America. Through its tactile format and visual language, the passport explores themes of duality, displacement, and belonging—transforming a symbol of state authority into a poetic artifact of identity in motion.
